Phase Transition in Scalar Theory Quantized on the Light-front
The renormalization of the two dimensional light-front quantized φ theory is discussed. The mass renormalization condition and the renormalized constraint equation are shown to contain all the information to describe the phase transition in the theory, which is found to be of the second order. We argue that the same result would also be obtained in the conventional equal-time formulation.
متن کاملOn the phase transition in the scalar theory
The basic tool for the study of the electroweak phase transition is Veff (φ, T ), the oneloop finite-temperature effective potential, improved by all-loop resummations of the most important infrared contributions. In this paper we perform, as a first step towards a full analysis of the Standard Model case, a detailed study of the effective potential of the scalar theory. We show that subleading...
متن کاملA Mean Field Theory of the Chiral Phase Transition
The recent discussions by Kocić and Kogut on the nature of the chiral phase transition are reviewed. The mean-field nature of the transition suggested by these authors is supported in random matrix theory by Verbaarschot and Jackson which reproduces many aspects of QCD lattice simulations. In this paper, we point out physical arguments that favor a mean-field transition, not only for zero densi...
متن کاملPhase transition temperatures at next-to-leading order.
Broken gauge symmetries are typically restored at high temperature, and the leadingorder result for the critical temperature Tc was found many years ago by Weinberg and by Dolan and Jackiw. I find a simple expression for the next-to-leading order correction to Tc, which is order eTc where e is the gauge coupling. The result is a simple consequence of recent work on summing ring diagrams at high...
متن کاملHigh temperature phase transition in two-scalar theories.
Two-scalar theories at high temperature exhibit a rich spectrum of possible critical behaviour, with a second or first order phase transition. In the vicinity of the critical temperature one can observe critical exponents, tricritical points and crossover behaviour. None of these phenomena are visible to high temperature perturbation theory. 1 Present address: Institut für Theoretische Physik, ...
